EARLY LEARNING & PRIMARY SCHOOL TUTORING

LEARNING MADE FOR THEM.

Every child learns differently and sometimes a little extra one-on-one support can make all the difference.

Early Learning & Primary School Tutoring at Compassionate Hearts & Hands provides personalised and encouraging learning support from the early learning years through primary school.

Sessions are shaped around your child's individual abilities, learning style and goals, with a focus on making learning feel positive, achievable and enjoyable. Whether we're developing early literacy and numeracy skills, working through schoolwork or simply helping your child feel more confident in their abilities, we'll work at their pace, in a way that works for them.

LITTLE LEARNERS

Learning starts long before big textbooks and homework.

For younger children, sessions can focus on foundational skills through playful, age-appropriate activities including letters and sounds, phonics, early reading, numbers, counting, colours, shapes, fine motor activities and school-readiness skills.

Games, movement, drawing and hands-on activities can be incorporated so learning feels engaging and enjoyable.

INCLUSIVE LEARNING SUPPORT

My experience working with children and young people with disability means I understand that learning can look very different from one child to another.

Sessions can be adapted for children who may need additional time, repetition, visual supports, movement breaks, simplified instructions or a more individual approach to learning.

The focus isn't on comparing your child to anybody else — it's about finding ways to help your child learn, participate and experience success.

BUILDING CONFIDENCE, NOT JUST SKILLS

Sometimes the biggest barrier to learning isn't ability — it's believing “I can't do this.”

Alongside academic skills, I want children to develop confidence in themselves as learners. Mistakes are okay, questions are encouraged and achievements — even the little ones deserve to be celebrated.

The goal is for your child to leave their session feeling capable, encouraged and proud of themselves.

SUPPORT THAT GROWS WITH THEM

From preparing for the first years of school to navigating primary school learning, support can change as your child's needs change.

We can focus on particular areas they find challenging, reinforce skills they're learning at school or provide ongoing individual learning support.

Their goals. Their pace. Their way of learning.

Looking for a little extra support for your child? Let’s make learning fun, positive and suited to them.

Let’s build their skills and confidence at a pace that works for them.

PRIMARY SCHOOL SUPPORT

As school becomes more challenging, some children benefit from having extra time and individual support to understand and practise what they're learning.

Sessions can provide support with areas such as reading, writing, spelling, phonics, English, mathematics, homework and general classroom learning.

Instead of rushing through something a child doesn't understand, we can slow it down, break it into manageable steps and practise it together until they begin to feel more confident.

LEARNING THAT WORKS FOR YOUR CHILD

There isn't one way that every child should learn.

Some children learn best by seeing. Others need to move, touch, practise, repeat or turn something into a game before it clicks.

Sessions can be adapted around your child's strengths, interests and learning style, helping make challenging concepts feel more approachable.

LEARNING THROUGH PLAY

Especially for younger children, sitting at a desk isn't always the best way to learn.

Games, puzzles, flashcards, drawing, movement, sensory activities and hands-on learning can all be incorporated into sessions while still working towards educational goals.

When children are engaged and enjoying themselves, learning can feel completely different.

Please leave room around this section for another small cartoon illustration showing playful learning, which I will add myself.

WORKING TOGETHER

Families know their children best.

Before beginning, we can talk about your child's strengths, interests, current learning, areas they may be finding difficult and what you would like them to work towards.

This helps make sessions purposeful and individual rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
